-- Friends of the Hanover Theater --

    The Hanover Theater is being restored by an all volunteer group of theater professionals from across the country.  Many people in the Hanover area have expressed an interest in helping restore and operate the theater, so we are pleased to announce the creation of The Friends of the Hanover Theater. 

    The Friends of the Hanover Theater will assist in the restoration and operation of the theater.  During the restoration volunteers will be able to help on a number of projects such as doing research on the history of the theater, carpentry, helping the electricians, painting, fund raising and leading tours - if you have some time to give, we will have something for you to do!

    Once the theater opens, volunteers will help with all aspects in the operation of the theater. There will be opportunities selling tickets, ushering, backstage work including stage set up, lighting, sound, scenery construction and lots more.  We are in the process of setting things up and hope to have more information soon, including an online sign up form.

    During the first phase of the restoration when the building is being evaluated and made safe for occupancy there won't be many volunteer opportunities in the building, but if you are an architect or engineer who would like to help us with the planning of the restoration this will be a great time to get involved.  This is also the perfect time for research on the theater.  Not only are we interested in the history of the theater, but also what the original interior colors were and what the decor was (the original light fixtures were lost in the 1960 modernization).  Interviews with older residents of the area may hold the clues to learning about the theater's past.
